FROM the July 2010 issue of DOC Atlantic NEWS

At the 2009 DOC Atlantic AGM it was decided to create a board which would consist of the executive committee (chair, vice-chair, treasurer and secretary) along with reps from NB, PEI, NS (outside HRM), and NFLD-Labrador. The goal was to increase the ability of DOC Atlantic to do its work in our region.  

The tasks of the regional reps include: to represent DOC in their region, help with recruitment, information dissemination, contribute to our newsletter, participate in board meetings, and to represent the region to DOC Atlantic.

The regional reps have a voting voice on decisions made by the DOC Atlantic board. Through this voice, the regional reps will be able to help shape the direction and initiatives of DOC in our region.

The members who have agreed to be the regional reps this year, until our next AGM, are:

Nigel Markham for Newfoundland and Labrador

Lloyd Salomone for New Brunswick

John Hopkins for Prince Edward Island

Madeline Yakimchuk for Nova Scotia (outside of Halifax)

They join the elected board of directors:

Walter Forsyth – chair

Chuck Lapp – vice-chair

Maria MacNeil – treasurer

Andrew Killawee – secretary

Teresa MacInnes is the regional rep on the national board of directors

Walter Forsyth is the regional rep on the Hot Docs board of directors
