Film and video production is a crucial part of Alberta's cultural community, as a means for Alberta writers, actors, designers and technicians to tell our stories. This program will increases the number of opportunities available to Alberta's film community. The formula grant will provide Alberta producers with a percentage of expenditures for films made in Alberta. The Alberta Foundation for the Arts (AFA) administers this program designed to support Alberta-based producers.

Canadian Television Financing: the Buck Starts Here by Felice Gorica Scarborough, Centennial CollegePress, 1999. Excellent guide to new and emerging producers on how to deal with the business end of producing. It deals with how to write a proposal- including a sample proposal; how to find financing; how to approach programming directors, explains the concept of windows; marketing and distribution. The second part of the book is a reference guide listing funding agencies, national and foreign broadcasters. Also included is a resource materials guide. Available at bookstores.
