DOC SALON Screening, Tuesday Sept 1st

THE ANTARCTICA CHALLENGE: A GLOBAL WARNING

SCREENING AND DISCUSSION with FILMMAKER MARK TERRY

DOC Toronto member Mark Terry recently got a big assist from the United Nations in raising awareness of his new documentary, The Antarctica Challenge: A Global Warning. Mark's one hour doc has been selected to screen at the United Nations Climate Change Conference in Copenhagen where 190 world leaders and more than 11,000 participants will meet with an aim of creating the first climate-change policy applicable to all countries.

The documentary focuses on the threat to the polar regions and the mountain glaciers, highlighting new discoveries made in relation to the hole in the ozone layer, the diminishing populations of sea life and the increased world sea level. (Read recent review to see why you don't want to miss it!)

The UN scheduling happened just days after Mark's brief theatrical run at the NFB, which most of us missed. So with Mark's enthusiastic cooperation, we at DOC Toronto decided to take the opportunity to revive our DOC SALONseries which spotlights issue-driven films, sometimes followed by a panel discussion.

We're starting small. We will screenThe Antarctica Challenge in the Centre For Social Innovation's first floor boardrooms (capacity 40-50 people).Q & A with Mark to follow. Tickets will be sold at the door on a first come, first served basis. Questions? email jackie@docorg.ca
