2012 DOC AB ACTIVITIES

March 3, 2012 DOC AB hosted Meet the Filmmakers Brunch: Crossing Cultures With a Camera's Lens during Global Visions Film Festival including Meagan Kelly and three others.   Attendance: 30 approx. Inaugural DOC Talks at Metro Cinema: "If a Tree Falls: A Story of the Earth Liberation Front" Conversation led by Brian Staskinski. Attendance 150 approx. April 15, 2012, DOC Talks in partnership with Metro Cinema: "40 Days at Base Camp". Filmmaker Dianne Whelan in attendance for Q&A. Attendance 100 approx. April 26, 2012 DOC-Alberta promoted a screening/talk by writer filmmaker Bob Holman during the 2012 Poetry Festival - "On the Road with Bob Holman". Attendance: 50 people May 12, 2012, DOC Talks: Wim Wenders' " Pina". We also screened a short film by Edmontonian, Geraldine Carr: "Maud, Mary and the Titanic". Attendance 50 approx. June 8, 2012, DOC Talks in partnership with Metro Cinema: "Big Boys Gone Bananas". Skype Q&A with Producer Bart Simpson. Live music prior to the screening by Paula Kirman. Attendance 50 approx.  July 9, 2012, DOC Talks in partnership with Metro Cinema: "5 Broken Cameras". Skype Q&A with Director Guy Davidi.  We also screened a short doc by Albertan Filmmaker, Ramin Eshraghi-Yazdi: "Chad Van Gaalen". 

December 9, 2012, DOC Talks in partnership with Metro Cinema and the NFB: "Who Cares". Q&A with Director, Rosie Dransfeld.   Attendance 500 approx. December 7, 2012 - DOC-Alberta co-sponsored Film Alberta Holiday Party.   Attendance 100 approx. 2013 event projections: POSSIBLE PROGRAMMING FOR DOC-ALBERTA  2013 1. Skill/Professional Development workshops --Workshop and Screening with American filmmaker Jennifer Fox. This will be a one day workshop to learn about crowdsourcing. Jennifer was very successful in using Kickstart to help finance post-production of her feature doc“My Reincarnation.”              (Projection of how many people will attend:  30)--Information sessions with the NFB, Front Row Insurance, etc. (approx 20 people for each) 2. Outreach: Developing/Continuing Partnerships  Global Visions Film Festival —we will be sponsoring the documentary "Uprising" at the festival.             (Projection of how many people will attend:  100) FAVA—we will continue to find ways to co-sponsor/host events. --(eg. “Meet the broadcasters” event  tokeep up dialogue with CTV  Two (Access),Omni and CBC)                  (Projection of how many people will attend: 40) 3.  Screenings --We will continue to promote/host “DOC TALKS” after screenings of documentaries produced by local, out of town filmmakers  (Projection of how many people will attend these screenings: 100 people per screening X 10 screenings:  1000 people)
