Board Member Biographies
Vonnie Von Helmolt
Vonnie Von Helmolt was the founding chair of both Film Training Manitoba and the Manitoba District Council of the Director's Guild of Canada. She is the current Chair of Film Training Manitoba and also Co-Chairs the Policy Committee and has chaired or been an active member of the Finance Committee of On Screen Manitoba. She recently joined the board of the Winnipeg Arts Council.
Her film awards include an International Emmy, Canadian Geminis, Manitoba Blizzards, and Best Picture awards from major international film festivals including Canada, Europe and Asia. Nominations include US Cable Ace awards, Banff Television Rockies, and many international television awards.
Her most recent feature documentary, TuTuMUCH, co-produced with Merit Jensen Carr, screened at 60 Cineplex Odeon theatres across Canada in January, in Australia and New Zealand in May, and at Cannes 2010 through Telefilm’s Perspectives Canada Program.
Vonnie’s Mission Statement:
I have seen how a good board can assist a group with a common interest to reach not only that goal but go far beyond what the original founding members ever hoped to achieve. DOC is a crucial voice in our industry and must be heard in the boardrooms and offices of those deciding on the future of our industry. If I can help DOC to continue to represent our voice to those who need to hear it, I would feel it was time well spent.
